We all knew it was only a matter of time before Adobe delivered the next update to its suite of applications. The launch date has been announced: We can expect Adobe CS5 on Monday, April 12, at 8 am PT, 11 am ET. Astute observers will notice that that date is the first day the exhibit floor will open at NAB 2010. Coincidence? Obviously not. Adobe is going all out with this launch as they’ve also launched a website where you can keep track of all the buzz and even log in with your Adobe ID to get even more CS5 goodness.
Adobe is touting CS5 as a very big release. While we’ll have to wait until it’s delivered into user’s hands and let them decide there are a lot of features that the ‘net has been buzzing about for a while: Mercury Playback engine for the video users in Premiere Pro, 64-bit native for After Effects, the screenwriting application Adobe Story making an appearance somewhere in and around CS5 and, of course, there’s bound to be many great advancements in Photoshop. Once amazing Photoshop demo that has been making the rounds is this YouTube video of something Adobe is calling content-aware fill. It’s easier to watch the demo that to explain it but from that demo it looks quite amazing. If the rest of the CS5 suite has similar such advances then CS5 might really be a big release.
