Monday evening (April 12) at NAB 2010 there looks to be a fun event at the Hard Rock Hotel. All-In Film is “a charity poker meetup for filmmakers and film lovers. Players will have the opportunity to win huge prizes and play against film industry professionals. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross for Haitian earthquake relief.”
I don’t play a lot of poker but I was speaking with one of the organizers of the event (as well as a few people who are attending) and while it is a No Limits Texas Hold-Em poker event it looks like it will also be a fun time to meet up with fellow filmmakers and talk some shop. The buy-in cost is $60 which lets you play in the event and enters you into the drawing for prizes. And they have quite a nice list of prizes including hardware like a CineSlider, an AJA I/O Express, an Intensity Pro card from Blackmagic Design and a Redrock Micro Ultraport DSLR. Check out the All-In Film event page to for all the information and to sign up. And if you don’t know anything about poker there’s a 12 minute video there to educate you as well.
Monday evening is going to be a busy one for many as the NAB Post Pit party is from 5:00 to 5:30 and then the Media Motion Ball at 5:30. Of course everyone will be tired from a long day on the NAB show floor so a little drink will probably do us all good.
