Briefcase-sized Radius Portable Workstation is a Complete Solution for the Real-Time Capture, Manipulation, and Output of Uncompressed Digital Video

NextComputing, manufacturer of high-performance, portable and small footprint workstations and servers, unveiled at NAB 2010 a mobile system for the real-time capture, processing, and output of high-resolution video and broadcast-quality audio. Integrating the NVIDIA Quadro Digital Video Pipeline, this first-of-its-kind portable solution is being shown at the NVIDIA booth #SL 5629 in the Las Vegas Convention Center.
NextComputing’s briefcase-sized Radius portable workstation is a complete solution for the real-time capture, manipulation, and output of uncompressed digital video. Leveraging the NVIDIA Quadro Digital Video Pipeline, this video production workflow solution supports resolutions from SD up to 2K, including full HD-SDI with embedded audio, all in a lightweight and elegant chassis that is simple to transport and set up for live production.

The Quadro Digital Video Pipeline simplifies and accelerates the complete production process by integrating an NVIDIA Quadro SDI capture board, a Quadro FX professional graphics processing unit (GPU), and a Quadro SDI output board, all available through PNY Technologies.

  • NVIDIA Quadro SDI capture board: the industry’s first fully integrated, solution for capture of SD-, HD-, 2K-, 3G-SDI video footage, in real-time, directly to GPU memory
  • NVIDIA Quadro SDI output board: the ideal output solution for digital broadcast, film, and video professionals
  • NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800 graphics board: PCI Express 2.0, single-slot form-factor graphics board with 1GB GDDR3 graphics memory, 256-bit memory interface, and 51GB/s memory bandwidth
NextComputing Radius and NVIDIA Quadro solutions by PNY are ideal for:
  • Virtual sets, sports, and weather/news systems to composite live video footage onto virtual backgrounds and send the results to live TV.
  • Film production, post-production, and finishing professionals to preview and record the results of 3D compositing, editing, and color grading in real-time on high definition (HD) broadcast monitors.
  • The Radius system also supports the NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800 and FX 5800 graphics solutions for users who need even more GPU processing power for their applications.
“The Quadro Digital Video Pipeline is a complete solution that streamlines the production process for broadcasters and filmmakers, enabling them to see results immediately,” said Jeff Brown, general manager, NVIDIA Professional Solutions Group. “By incorporating this technology into a portable unit, NextComputing adds great value to our customers who are producing content in remote locations.”
