In an age of on-demand everything, the summer of endless reruns may finally have vanished for good. The fourth season of AMC’s Mad Men is just around the corner. ABC, Fox, A&E and FX—which launched Denis Leary’s sixth season of Rescue Me on Tuesday night—are also using the summer months to premiere new and returning favorites. But just in case you have better things to do (or need a few mental cues to program the DVR), a trail of on-air promos by studios like BIGSMACK are arriving just in time to tempt you back.
BIGSMACK’s campaign for The Glades, a new scripted drama that premieres next week on A&E, began with its creation of the teaser’s tagline, “Sunny…with a chance of homicide.” From there, the Philly-based creative, production and design agency created three :15 teaser spots and a :30 promo featuring Matt Passmore, who plays the series’ lead character. BIGSMACK was also involved in concepting online promos, as well as the series of posters that extended the “Sunny” theme to kiosks, billboards, the sides of buses, and every available inch of Chicago’s “L” transit system.
The show’s blend of crime drama and oddball characters, set in America’s favorite vacation state, set the tone for BIGSMACK’s approach, says creative director Andy Hann. “Things aren’t always what they seem,” he says.
