Chiller Promo and LeBron James Website Intro Tie for Top Honors

StudioDaily.com is excited to announce the winners of Studio’s Top Spot Festival, an online film festival celebrating technical and creative achievement in TV spots, viral videos, and more. As selected by our panel of expert judges, the honor of Top Spot (overall) is being shared by two recipients: “Chiller: Hitchcock,” spearheaded by Chiller creative director Shea Pepper and executed by Motive NYC, and “LeBron James Website Intro,” co-written and co-directed by Marty Martin & Zia Mohajerjasbi.
Judge Patrick Davenport, vice president of operations at Method, who voted for “Chiller: Hitchcock” as the winner, said, “I liked the storyline and use of graphics to neatly highlight some of Alfred Hitchcock’s most notable movies.” And judge Charlie Tercek, creative director of Serial, said it “sets up the mood very effectively, with great use of special effects and remarkable and unique use of movie stills.”
“LeBron James Website Intro” also won plaudits in the categories of top editing, top direction, and top cinematography – all credited to Marty Martin. “The LeBron spot was the clear winner for me, and I love how the ball drives the narrative,” said judge Luis Ribeiro, VP of business development at Company 3. “It’s well-timed, with good storytelling and a dynamic use of the camera.” Judge Valerie Petrusson, co-founder, COO, and managing director of Beast, agreed, adding, “It is also visually very appealing.”

“Battles BC Promo” for The History Channel, which features the motion graphics work of Motive’s Felix Thoo, was honored for Top VFX/Animation. “The dynamism of the promo reflected the essence of the piece, and the ambitious VFX had great aesthetics and were appropriately used to enhance the story,” said Davenport.

And Windows 7 promo “Shake It,” also from Marty Martin, was cited as best online/viral video. Tercek applauded its “nice, simple storytelling and a smart, understated performance from the actor.”

StudioDaily extends its congratulations to the winners. For more information on the winning spots and the creative individuals behind them, visit us online: http://www.studiodaily.com/path-to-landing-page-here.html
