Kodak’s “Cinematographer’s Field Guide” is now available as an ePub. The digital version of this popular reference book by Kodak can be downloaded at no cost from
www.kodak.com/go/motion/mobileresources, and read on the Apple iPad, Barnes & Noble Nook, Sony Reader, as well as iPhone, iPod Touch and Android-based devices. Kodak has also made the guide available in the PDF format for alternative downloading and viewing. “We want to provide filmmakers with fast and easy access to information that is useful and helpful to them, regardless of what stage of production they are in or where they are located,” says Nicole Phillips, Kodak’s worldwide director of web marketing. “We chose the ePub format because it is device agnostic, allowing users to have the materials they need at their fingertips.”
The “Cinematographer’s Field Guide” was originally published in 1988 and has been printed in a pocket-size format through the years. The book provides up-to-date and easy-to-use information about all KODAK Motion Picture Camera films and several related subjects. The guide is divided into five major sections: motion picture camera films, filter information, tips and techniques, formats and packaging, and ordering raw stock. With the digital ePub version, tablet and e-reader owners can utilize such convenient reader functionality as easy searching, bookmarking, annotating and page flipping.
“We are told by students and emerging filmmakers that the ‘Cinematographer’s Field Guide’ is their go-to resource when in the throes of production,” adds Phillips. “It helps them determine the best choices for telling a story visually. This ePub offering now provides all that information in a very quick and easy format to digital reading devices.”
iPhone and iPod Touch users simply require Stanza, a free app used to download ePub files. (Note: The ePub file format is not compatible with the Amazon Kindle.)
