Black Swan up for Special Visual Effects Award
“All of us at LOOK are thrilled to have our work recognized and be included in this stellar group of pictures nominated for Special Visual Effects,” says Mark Driscoll, President of LOOK Effects. “By nominating Black Swan in this category, BAFTA has shown a great understanding of the importance of visual effects in the art of storytelling in film.”
“It is such an honor to be nominated, especially given the caliber of the other films included,” says Dan Schrecker. “Black Swan was a labor of love for all of us who worked on the film. We worked hard to get our very best up on the screen and it’s gratifying to have our effort recognized by BAFTA.”
Visual effects supervisor Dan Schrecker has worked with director Darren Aronofsky on all his films, beginning with Pi through Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain and The Wrestler. Schrecker’s other credits include The Bounty Hunter, Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire, The Producers, and the ABC series, Life on Mars, which he supervised on location in New York City. Schrecker’s multi-faceted career started with degrees from Harvard and NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program. Since then he’s supervised and created visual effects, designed titles and motion graphics, adding to his expertise in multimedia and interactive formats, traditional cel animation and claymation. His work has earned him Visual Effects Society nominations for Best Supporting Visual Effects in a Motion Picture for “Black Swan” (this year), “Frida” (2002) and “The Fountain” (Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects Driven Motion Picture, 2006).
