Following the recent successful launch of the studio's interactive, first-of-its-kind Touching Stories iPad app, Tool has significantly enhanced its ability to take on nontraditional media projects by signing to its roster one of the field's trailblazers: Alexx Henry. Recognized by The Huffington Post as "fearless in his vision," Alexx is a leader in the emerging market of interactive storytelling for tablet devices such as the iPad.
Henry, whose work spans artistic media, brings an impressive portfolio to Tool. His directorial work is an energetic blend of live action and technology that reflects both his versatility and love for innovation. The pioneer of “Living Art,” or “print in motion,” Henry’s highly acclaimed interactive spreads include the first ever iPad article for Viv Magazine, set in a rain-soaked noir city’s high-rise maze of rooms and alleys, and combining live action, cg and multi-touch; a conceptual, cutting-edge motion cover for Outside magazine; and a trio of homepage banner takeovers for the Hallmark Channel’s Mrs. Washington Goes to Smith. A master still photographer, he was dubbed “Photographer of the Year” by the Digital Magazine Awards in 2010, and his editorial work has graced the covers of heavyweight publications like Cigar Aficionado, Billboard, and The Source. Henry’s A-list clients include 50 Cent, Cybil Shephard, Green Day, Lindsay Lohan, Carmen Electra, James McAvoy among countless others.

“While many have predicted the demise of paper in an increasingly digital world, the reality is that the two fields are likely to merge in ways that only a few visionaries have even imagined,” noted Tool EP Brian Latt. “Henry is one of those visionaries, and will continue our practice of signing interactive directors who specialize in blending live action and technology to push the boundaries of interactive storytelling.”

Henry has run his own studio in LA since 2001.
