Digital Cinema pioneer Barco has announced the commercial launch of its new range of 4K cinema projectors, including the DP4K-32B (for screens up to 32 meters) and the DP4K-23B (screens up to 23 meters). In addition, Barco reported that its Enhanced 4K DP4K-32B projector has obtained DCI certification and that the DP4K-23B will finalize DCI certification soon. As such, Barco further expands its offering of DCI certified cinema projectors ‘ the most comprehensive family of DCI certified projectors on the planet.
Barco’s highly successful range of digital cinema projectors continues to push the envelope of image quality. After successfully establishing a Guinness World Record with the DP2K-32B – confirmed to be the brightest digital cinema projector on the planet with a validated brightness of over 43,000 lumens – Barco now introduces two brand-new Enhanced 4K projector models. The superb image quality of these high-resolution projectors will present moviegoers with the ultimate, premium cinema experience.

The unique features that have made Barco’s DP2K-series a success are also present on the new 4K range, while offering customers even more options to choose from. The new, top-of-the-line DP4K-32B projector guarantees razor-sharp images combined with consistent uniformity, rich contrast and vibrant, accurate colors. Furthermore, the ultra-high resolution DP4K projectors benefit from Barco’s unique track-record in optical design and superior efficiency, resulting in minimal total cost of ownership and a record light output, which in turn enables vibrant 3D on the big screen.

The DP4K series share the same modular platform as Barco’s DP2K line, enabling customers to easily swap spare parts and keep learning curves short. Moreover, with its patented cooling system, the DP4K-series has the coolest 4K engine in the world. This ensures unrivaled reliability, longer lifetime and a significantly higher light output compared to competing products.

“The new Barco DP4K-series projectors provide premium image quality for premium movie experiences,” comments Wim Buyens, Senior Vice President Entertainment at Barco. “These two models are an important addition to our existing range of high-quality digital cinema projectors. The DCI-compliance of the 4K models, unique in the market at the moment, means that we have the most complete line of DCI compliant projectors. The many benefits our digital cinema projectors, including spectacular brightness and lowest TCO, allow movie theaters to constantly improve their standards while saving money.”

The new DP4K family will be on display at CinemaCon, which is held from March 28 to 31 at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas (USA), booth #1006A & 911A.
