DVCPRO HD Named Official Recording Format for London 2012 Olympic Games

LAS VEGAS, NV (April 10, 2011) ‘ Reinforcing its technology leadership, Panasonic Solutions Company (PSC) today made a series of compelling camcorder introductions at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show, including the AG-3DP1, a 3D P2 HD twin-lens shoulder-mount camcorder; the AG-HPX250, the company’s first P2 HD handheld camcorder with AVC-Intra recording; and two new AVCCAM HD handheld camcorders, the AG-AC160 and AG-AC130, with Full HD imagers and a new, wider 21X HD zoom lens.
“The shoulder-mount AG-3DP1 offers a larger imager, 10-bit color depth, AVC-Intra recording to P2 media, and EFP-style shooting to expand the universe of affordable 3D production for live events, sports, documentaries and independent films,” said Joseph Facchini, Vice President of Sales and Product Management, PSC

“With the HPX250, Panasonic for the first time offers an ultra-portable handheld camera with full-resolution, 10-bit, intra-frame recording in a one-piece unit without the need for an add-on recorder,” Facchini added. “This is an unprecedented level of image quality in a lightweight camera.”  
Panasonic Corporation, the Official Worldwide Olympic Partner in the Audio and Visual Equipment category for the London 2012 Olympic Games, announced that DVCPRO HD will be the official recording format for capturing the Games.   Olympic Broadcasting Services London (OBSL), the Host Broadcaster, will use P2 HD series equipment to support the broadcast of the competition, the tenth Olympic Games where Panasonic’s digital technologies will be used as the official recording format.

PSC also made several major customer announcements:
•       The company   is supplying NASA with AG-3DA1 3D camcorders, BT-3DL2550 3D LCD monitors and rugged Toughbook laptop computers to document the training and preparation leading up to the June 28th launch of the Space Shuttle Atlantis to the International Space Station.   While at the Station, the astronauts will conduct a number of scientific missions that they will capture with the 3DA1.
•       Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. (Hunt Valley, MD) has made a large-scale purchase of
AG-HPX370 P2 HD shoulder-mount camcorders to outfit all news photographers at its 12         markets producing local news.
•       NFL Films (Mount Laurel, NJ is moving to file-based, 24P solid-state acquisition with its investment in an array of Panasonic P2 HD gear including   AJ-HPX3100 master-quality, 1080p 2/3″ P2 HD camcorders and   AG-HPD24 P2 portable decks,   as well as BT-LH910   9″ LCD monitors.
Panasonic made additional product announcements at NAB, including the AG-HPD24 P2 portable deck with powerful 3D synchronized record/playback, native 24p recording with variable frame rates and 24-bit, four-channel audio recording in AVC-Intra 100/50; the AJ-PCD30 P2 three-slot drive with a super-speed USB 3.0 interface that delivers the industry’s fastest offloads from a solid-state source; and the
BT-LH910, a powerful 9-inch LCD monitor with the best picture quality in its class and newly-developed 3D assist functions.
