Series of In-Store Spots Make Engaging But Efficient Sales Tools
Just the right tone – friendly, but not overly goofy – is key to the “What’s in the Box” in-store spots that hope to upsell Best Buy customers by showing them the accessories that aren’t in the box when they unpack their new electronics purchases. The shorts start by trotting out all of the bits of gear that come with a product like the iPod Nano. The second half of the spots show a series of dancing accessories that consumers may also want to pony up for before they leave the store. CRASH+SUES animators Sean Hall and Cari Merryman shot the spots with the Canon 5D Mark II using Dragon Stop Motion software. The rough cut was edited in FCP by Matthew Kroese, and product tags were created in After Effects by Adam Celt. The 3D intro and exit tags were created in Maya by Alex Angelmann, and color-correction was done by Sue Lakso.
