Film Scanning manufacturer Cintel International will use the IBC 2011 exhibition to launch two new User Interface options for the imageMill2 Data Enhancement and Restoration System, as well as unveiling a number of upgrades for the diTTo evolution 2K/4K Film Scanner.
imageMill2 is the world’s fastest data enhancement system, capable of faster-than-real-time 2K DPX file image processing. imageMill2 features simultaneous film grain management and digital noise reduction (the application named GRACE), image stabilisation (STEADY) and dust/scratch and digital defect reduction (the new ORIGIN application).

imageMill2 is available as a full workstation system with 4Tb of local RAID storage, or alternatively as a plug-in PCI card. Both options include a simple-to-use Control User Interface free-of-charge, but now users have the option to upgrade to more comprehensive user interfaces.

FLOW is the new user interface providing a set of tools including a full Multi-Format and Multi-Resolution Project Timeline, full Project Management and Library functions, 3D-LUT management, Waveform, Histogram and Vectorscope Monitoring and Timecode/Edgecode burn-in. FLOW supports Tangent Devices control surfaces and also supports a number of file formats including DPX, ARRI RAW and RED R3D in any resolution from SD to 4K.

COLOURFLOW includes all of the features in FLOW plus Primary Colour Correction, Zoom, Pan, Rotate scan effects, Blanking tools, Automatic Scene Detection, Dynamic Events and EDL export.

Simon Carter, Sales Director, Cintel, commented, “FLOW and COLOURFLOW really enable users to get the best out of the GRACE, STEADY and ORIGIN applications. Adding the timeline is very important for most workflows and being able to process 2K data stabilisation, noise reduction and dust and scratch reduction, plus colour correction faster than real time, is fantastic!”

Also at IBC2011, Cintel will be announcing further enhancements to the diTTo evolution 2K/4K film scanner. A new camera option allowing over-sampled 4K data scans will soon be available as an upgrade for new and existing diTTo evolution customers. This will be in addition to the market-leading over-sampled 2K images already available from the diTTo evolution film scanner. In supplement to this, Cintel will be announcing further film transport modifications involving a capstan drive which are aimed at increasing the level of shrunken and damaged film that diTTo evolution can accommodate.
