Lightweight, Longer Optimo 45-120mm Lens Offers New Shooting Possibilities

Thales Angenieux is featuring its recently introduced Optimo 45-120mm lens this week at IBC 2011. With a zoom ratio of 2.7x, a fast aperture of T2.8 (wide open) and weight below 2 kg, the new S35mm zoom lens is small and light enough for hand-held, steadicam or crane work and long enough for close-ups. The zoom range can be pushed to 240mm at T5.6 with the 2x extender for added shooting possibilities.

The lens incorporates an exclusive optical design to avoid breathing, as well as features designed for the professional user including a 320-degree focus rotation with over 50 precise focus witness marks. It offers superior levels of optical performance across the entire zoom range, with contrast and color reproduction rivaling the highest performing prime lenses.

The new Optimo 45-120mm Lens is designed with specifications similar to the award winning family of 15-40mm and 28-76mm lightweight Optimo lenses. It perfectly complements the other lightweight Optimo zooms to create a unique, three-zoom lens system with total combined focal range of 15-120mm. The Optimo lightweight, zoom lenses enable the user to take fewer lenses on location without any sacrifice in performance ‘ and without the excess weight. Their extremely fast apertures and outstanding contrast and color reproduction have made them the optics of choice for DPs all over the world.

The Optimo 45-120mm lens is available with Angenieux Data System (ADS). ADS ‘ /i module integrating /i protocol and is designed for all Angenieux lightweight lenses such as the Optimo 15-40, Optimo 28-76, Optimo 45-120, Optimo DP 16-42 and Optimo DP 30-80. The ADS/i Technology module enables monitoring and transfer of key lens data for many applications such as post-production analysis, lens synchronization for 3D, special effects, and virtual studios. The Optimo 45-120 is also compatible with 1.4x and 2x extenders.

The Optimo 45-120 works with Angenieux’s interchangeable mounts especially designed to easily fix the lenses on DSLR cameras with APS-C format (Canon EOS 7D, EOS 1D MK IV, Nikon 3000 /3100, D300, D7000).
