Honeyhouse Films, a new online stock footage source that went live last Friday, has just released a set of affordable royalty-free 2K weather, space and ocean stock footage and alpha-channel visual effects aimed at film-resolution projects.

Melbourne, Australia-based filmmaker Shaun Wilson and his wife Tammy Honey, a video artist, formed Honeyhouse Films two years ago when they began creating trailers for several 2K film projects in the works and soon realized they needed many more effects shots than their budget and schedule would allow. In 2010, they began filming with a RED ONE and DSLR with the aim of creating a “massive stock library” of drag-and-drop effects footage at 2K resolution that they could both use and sell at reasonable prices. Wilson and Honey also have the parallel goal of creating stock effects that effortlessly work with After Effects and tools from Red Giant, DigiEffects, The Foundry, among others. They are at work on creating their next set of products in both 3D and 4K.

The company’s initial collections range in price from $40 to $59 ( a 10% off sale is going on now) and nicely fill the void of higher-res water and sky footage and effects, certainly in this price range. Weather 2K includes CG rain, fog and snow. A separate Clouds 2K bundles time-lapse cloud sequences. Oceans 2K includes real ocean footage, CG ocean simulations and chroma-masked beach and ocean settings ready for your additional effects. Space 2K wraps up some asteroid, actual satellite images and a slew of animated fantasy planets.
