Takes Sales, Service, and Support Back from Longtime Partner ZGC

P+S Technik is setting up shop in Hollywood, with a new North American support center taking over sales and service of P+S products in North America. The opening of the P+S Technik Technical Base ends the company's business partnership with business partner ZGC, which had been the German company's exclusive distributor in North America for more than 10 years. ZGC will continue to service some P+S products, but P+S said the new operation became a "single point of contact" for the U.S. market as of November 15.
The new P+S facility in the Television Center at 6418 Santa Monica Blvd. will be run by Alan Lasky, formerly of DALSA Digital Cinema and Post Logic Studios.

The company is probably still best known among independent filmmakers for its Mini35 and Pro35 lens converters for digital cameras, which first allowed cinematographers to get a film look by using 35mm film lenses with smaller digital sensors. Since then, P+S has released the SI-2K camera (a collaboration with Silicon Imaging), the high-speed Weisscam HS-1 and HS-2 MKII (up to 2,000 fps at 1080p), and the new high-speed PS-Cam X35 (up to 450 fps). P+S also makes stereo-3D camera rigs, the SteadyFrame film scanner, and various lenses and accessories.
