Lightweight PL 19-90 Cabrio Aims to Satisfy Film DPs and Run-and-Gun Shooters
For the first time, Fujifilm is aiming to offer the same model of PL-mount lens to both film-style and ENG-style shooters. At NAB, the company said it will show the PL 19-90 CABRIO (ZK4.7×19), a lightweight 19mm-90mm zoom lens with a detachable servo drive unit. That means news photographers will get the motorized rocker switch allowing them to easily zoom in and out of the action, while film-style shooters can use the same lens without the encumbrance of a servo drive they're never going to use.
Fujifilm stressed that the lens accepts standard motors and matte boxes and outputs LDS and /i lens data (drawn from the 16-bit digital servo) just as a cine lens should.
The lens is designed with a nine-blade iris, and covers a 31.5mm sensor size, making it suitable for a range of digital-cinema cameras.
