Owner Mark Leiss partners with major TV colorist to launch ArsenalFX COLOR
Bicoastal visual effects studio ArsenalFX Owner/Artist Mark Leiss announces the opening of ArsenalFX COLOR, tapping colorist Larry Field, as Partner/Colorist and Flame artist O.T. Hight—both well-respected experts each with more than 20 years of television experience. The new entity services TV, commercial and film clients. Field and Hight’s credits include Bones, 24, Terra Nova, Shameless, The Simpsons, The River, as well as hundreds of other projects. Field, formerly of Level 3 Post in Burbank, is currently working on the eighth season of Fox’s Bones, among other projects. The lead colorist on the show for more than two years, Field works in partnership with New Edit, which supplies the hardware and workflows necessary for dailies.
“ArsenalFX COLOR provides all of the horsepower and top gear that major TV studios expect, in a more personal, boutique environment,” Field notes.” “I look forward to working in a more hands-on, decision-making role as a partner at ArsenalFX COLOR, re-introducing TV post to the west side.”
The launch comes on the heels of Leiss’ expansion to a substantially larger studio in the heart of Santa Monica’s Olympic Boulevard entertainment corridor. The sleek 9000 sq. ft facility is an artist-driven, providing creative color, finishing, titling and visual effects using the Autodesk platform of Flame, Lustre, Smoke and Maya, with Avid, Final Cut and After Effects platforms available as well. The studio, which includes a New York office, has technology to provide virtual color and/or VFX sessions when clients wish to work with Arsenal from across the city or around the world.
“With the addition of ArsenalFX COLOR, the studio can deliver on any project no matter the size, in commercials and film as well as episodic,” says Leiss.
