Facial-Capture Specialist Says It Will Waive Data-Processing Fee for Captured Performances
Faceware Technologies, which provides tools for markerless facial capture systems, was at SIGGRAPH this week with a new, one-armed design of its Head Mounted Camera System.
Also new at Faceware is an educational program that offers schools free use of the company's Analyzer and Retargeter software. Commercial clients pay a processing fee to analyze captured performances, but students can process facial performances for free. Schools will still have to pay if they want a head-mounted camera, but Faceware VP of Business Development Peter Busch told StudioDaily that the company's software works with any video source.
A head-cam kit with three sizes of helmet runs $15,000, but Busch said the most popular option is a $300/day rental.
FaceWare was formed by well-known facial-animation specialist Image Metrics earlier this year to market products based on Image Metrics technology.
