Though Sleepwalk with Me is based on Mike Birbiglia's one-man show and subsequent memoir, the stand-up comic turned director and star developed his new film with a little help from friends Lena Dunham, who consulted on the screenplay and in the edit suite, and Ira Glass, creator and host of the award-winning radio show This American Life, where a version of the narrative first appeared. For the official trailer Birbiglia and Glass, the film's co-writer and producer, even rerecorded and laid down their own audio track after deciding the original needed improvement. Sleepwalk with Me won the NEXT Audience Award at Sundance, where it premiered in January. It will open in limited release this Friday, including at New York's IFC Center.
