Three-CMOS HD Camera Records Native XDCAM EX, QuickTime, AVC HD to SDHC or SDXC Cards
JVC is shipping the GY-HM600 1/3-inch HD camera, announced earlier this year at NAB. The camera sports a 23x Fujinon zoom lens (with a 35mm-equivalent focal range of 29mm-667mm) and three 12-bit 1920×1080 CMOS sensors.
The camera records multiple HD and SD formats, including both MPEG-2 (QuickTime and native XDCAM EX) and AVC HD, to standard SDHC and SDXC cards. A simultaneous recording feature allows recording to both memory cards ot once, and the "Pre Rec" function keeps up to 20 seconds of footage in a memory cache to help keep missed shots to a minimum.
The HM600 has timecode sync in, HD-SDI and HDMI out, a built-in stereo mic and two phantom-power XLR audio inputs with an additional input for a wireless receiver.
The GY-HM600 lists for $4695. The yet-to-be-released GY-HM650 will add built-in Wi-Fi and an FTP option to the same basic formula, and will list for $5995.
