Highlights include versatile workflow options realized with Cinedeck MX and latest RX3G, plus new v4 software

New York, NY, Feb 7 2013– Cinedeck LLC (www.cinedeck.com), pioneering developer of capture systems for motion picture and broadcast production, will spotlight “Your Workflow, Your Way”, as it showcases versatile acquisition-to-post and video ingest options at the 2013 HPA Tech Retreat (www.hpaonline.com), Feb 18-22, Indian Wells, CA. Cinedeck will give practical demonstrations of how its quad-channel Cinedeck MX and new dual-channel Cinedeck RX3G record, playback, monitor and transcode systems can be deployed in a wide variety of workflows. Cinedeck will also demonstrate the latest v4.0 software upgrade for the RX and MX systems.

Cinedeck recognizes that each production follows its own distinctive path, and that no two workflows are precisely the same. At the 2013 HPA Tech Retreat, the company will show how its standalone recorders – with their vast range of I/O connectivity, support for the widest range of codec and file formats, all easily managed with a simple user interface ­– add up to highly-flexible options for today’s cinema and broadcast workflows.

Cinedeck MX and RX3G will be shown ingesting content from a variety of sources – HD cameras, traditional tape deck and DDR – with the sources encoded to edit-ready formats and then output to different storage media, including SAN technology (Oceantides’ QOS via 10GigE). The company will also highlight its latest v4.0 feature-set, which includes an upgraded UI, flexible file-naming/metadata tools and full duplex record/playback options.

Cinedeck recorders can be deployed in any live, on-set, post-production or broadcast environment, via a wide choice of video, audio, and IT connections, including SD, HD, Single and Dual Link, 3G, 3D stereo and AES. They can record up to four channels per system (Cinedeck MX), with multiple encodes per input channel, and support realtime up/down/cross conversion, enabling a painless transition for different production needs.

Cinedecks support cameras that output via 3G, HD-SDI and LAN, including the HD and 4K cameras from ARRI (Alexa), Canon (C500), Cineflex, GoPro, Hitachi, Panasonic, Panavision (Genesis), Phantom, Red Epic, SI-2K, Sony and Weisscam. Unparalleled encoding and codec support includes native Avid and Apple, plus a wide range of other popular standards, such as XDcam, Cineform, DPX and H.264. With Cinedeck, footage is immediately ready for editing in popular post-production environments including Apple Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer, Autodesk, Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas and GV Edius.

Cinedecks record internally to cost-effective, front-accessible SSD drives, USB and eSATA local attached storage and directly to network storage (SAN/NAS), via 1Gb or 10Gb Ethernet, or 8Gb fiber channel. The 7-inch touchscreen display provides waveform, vectorscope, histogram, clipping and focus analysis tools. Users can review shots instantly, and in any order via the display, or external HDMI, SDI, DVI and VGA. This allows instant QC, while the extensive file and format support allows playback of virtually any common content. Redundant file creation on separate discs and redundant hot-swappable power supplies protect material during capture. Cinedeck MX and RX can be remote-controlled by third-party devices via RS-422 VTR/DDR protocols, TCP/IP and USB.

With the dual-channel RX3G at $17,495 and a quad-channel MX at $49,390, Cinedecks can deliver more than an 80% cost saving against the purchase of traditional tape decks. They also save on the additional shipping, power and auxiliary equipment costs associated with tape. A single Cinedeck MX can be configured to undertake the tasks of four tape decks. With a 4RU footprint it occupies 75% less physical space, and at 35lbs weighs 90% less.

Among the first MX customers are NBC Universal and All Mobile Video, which has equipped its outside broadcast fleet with 15 Cinedeck MX systems, and used them on The Rolling Stones’ recent New York concerts. RX customers include Apple, MTV, CNN, Stargate Studios, Nickelodeon, and Vendata, which operates eight RXs.
