Broadcasters preparing for installing Ultra HD (4k) displays can look to Gefen (NAB booth SL 3824) for a selection of signal distribution and integration solutions. Other new Gefen products provide critical behind-the-scenes connectivity for the latest in high definition offerings.
Ultra HD Splitters
Three new wall-mountable Splitters provide 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8 signal distributions. A single source using HDMI to transmit resolutions up to 4k is split to two, four and eight outputs. Each splitter includes automatic EDID management that preserves the integrity of the signal throughout the distribution.
Ultra HD Switchers
One 4×1 Switcher for Ultra HD (4k) offers an easy way to integrate of up to four sources using HDMI and one display. Users can switch between all four sources using the same display. Two Matrix Switchers for Ultra HD (4k) include the 4×2 and 6×2 switchers. The 4×2 Matrix switches between four sources using HDMI and two independent outputs. Any source can be routed to either display at any time. The 6×2 Matrix uses a new Ultra HD chip technology that allows seamless switching between six sources using HDMI and two independent displays.
Matrixes for HDMI with HDBaseT Extension
Both the 16×16 and the 32×32 modular frames with 8 ELR outputs come in 5U and 6U rack enclosures with flexibility in the number of outputs in 8x increments. The 16×16 Modular Matrix w/ELR routes up to 16 sources to any or all 16 extended outputs. The 32×32 Modular Matrix w/ELR routes any 32 sources to any or all 32 extended outputs. Signal extension using 8x ELR modules sends HDMI up to 330 feet (100m) using one CAT-5 cable per output. ELR is based on HDBaseT and enables a reliable transmission of high definition video up to 1080p full HD with lossless audio. All ELR receivers are included. Both products support HDCP compliance.
USB to Audio Decoder
Provides a simple way to deliver computer or cloud-based audio to an existing audio pre-amplifier or receiver or headsets with up to 192kHz audio for high resolution quality. The small enclosure fits in the palm of your hand and outputs digital (optical) or analog (L/R) two-channel audio using the USB port on the computer or laptop. A digital interpolation filter and digital to analog (DAC) converter are built into the device to strengthen its performance.
DVI ELR (Extra Long Range) Lite
This new extender is more cost-effective for slightly shorter-range extensions. It delivers DVI up to 230 feet (70m) using one CAT-5 cable. It also extends power over the same cable using Gefen POL (Power Over Line) technology, which releases the receiver from requiring a power supply.
DisplayPort KVM Extender over CAT-7
Delivers high resolution, dual link video at 2560×1600 resolutions with two USB 2.0 peripherals up to 100 feet (30m) using three CAT-7 cables. It is designed for an extension of the workspace from the computer and is ideal for studios and editing bays.
GefenPRO HDVI to 3GSDI Scaler
This Scaler can automatically switch between DVI or HDMI inputs and output video as 3GSDI with backwards compatibility with all SDI formats. When converting HDMI, up to eight channels of audio are supported and output as S/PDIF coaxial. High resolution video can be scaled up to 1080p or 2k. Genlock frame synchronization provides advanced features such as adaptive video interlacing with edge interpolation, advanced noise reduction, alpha blending and image enhancement. Users access features through the on-screen menu using front-panel buttons, RS-232 or IR remote.
GefenPRO 3GSDI to 3GSDI Scaler
This Scaler for SDI offers additional frame synchronization features to improve video quality and performance. It can up or down scale any SDI source to any SDI display, supporting ED-SDI, HD-SDI and 3G-SDI formats. Adjustable cadence detection, frame rate conversion, detail enhancement, and advanced noise reduction further enhance performance. High resolution video may be scaled up to 1080p or 2k. This Scaler can also be used in Genlock mode as stand-alone frame synchronizer when switching audio/video that must be precisely timed. The on-screen menu system is accessed by front-panel buttons, IR remote or RS-232 control.
