Workflow Tool Supports Canon and Nikon HDSLRs, GoPro Cams, with More to Come
Following an extended public beta, Red Giant has started shipping the release version of BulletProof, its new Mac workflow tool for Canon and Nikon DSLRs and GoPro cameras.
Designed to help filmmakers get footage out of their cameras and into the hands of editorial, the $199 BulletProof includes tools for offloading, organizing, reviewing, and backing up files, making first-pass color corrections and inputting metadata, and exporting with timecode to Apple ProRes (on computers with Final Cut Pro installed), PhotoJPEG, or H.264.
More camera formats are slated to be supported in free monthly software updates, and while Red Giant hasn't said exactly which formats will come first, it has suggested that MXF and AVCHD are on the to-do list.
BulletProof v1.0 requires an Intel-based Mac running OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard), 10.7.2 and later (Lion), or 10.8 and later (Mountain Lion). No word yet on the inevitable Windows version, but keep an eye on the Red Giant BulletProof forum for any developments.
