The Foundry's Mari 3D painting software is now available for the Mac. As the company made Mari 2.5 available to Mac users, it also announced a cross-platform 25% off sale on all versions of Mari, reducing the price to $1,495 through October 31. If you've never used Mari, you're in luck — the company is offering a 15-day trial version for free.
Mari runs on Macs with OS X 10.8.4 and higher and Nvidia Geforce650M/Quadro 4000 or better graphics hardware. AMD cards will be supported when Apple pushes out OS X 10.9. (With the release last week of the gold master of the new OS, nicknamed Mavericks, it's a near-certainty that it will ship later this month — probably along with the new Mac Pro.)
“We announced that Mari would be coming to the Mac at WWDC 2013 earlier this year, and are excited to be releasing it to the market today,” said Mari Product Manager Jack Greasley in a prepared statement. “We know MARI is a great fit for the Mac and can’t wait to see what users can do with this truly amazing tool on Apple’s hardware.”
