New $2,995 Price Applies to Pre-Orders of Long-Delayed Camera, Too
Blackmagic Design said today that its Blackmagic Production Camera 4K (BMPC) is finally out of the lab and shipping. It's been a long wait for a camera that was originally scheduled to ship in June 2013, but customers' patience was rewarded with a surprise last-minute price cut. The camera will sell for $2,995, rather than the originally announced $3,995, to all customers including pre-orders.
"The Blackmagic Production Camera 4K is a perfect companion for ATEM Production 4K switchers," said Blackmagic CEO Grant Petty in a prepared statement, "and we hope the new low price will help more customers to expand their Ultra HD live production set-ups with even more camera angles."
The BMPC has a Super 35-size sensor and records Ultra HD (3840×2160) ProRes 422 (HQ) to a built in SSD recorder. It has a global shutter, an EF- and ZE-compatible lens mount, a five-inch LCD touchscreen display, and 6G-SDI output for 10-bit HD and Ultra HD recording. It's available now from Blackmagic Design resellers worldwide, the company said.
