LaCie is following up last year's 4 TB Blade Runner drive, designed by Philippe Starck, with the new Christofle Sphère, a USB 3.0-powered drive in a spherical steel enclosure that's silver-plated and polished by hand at the Christofle silversmith workshop in France.
The 1 TB capacity will be a little underwhelming for media professionals, but fans of unusual design may make room for it on their desktop. (Might the new Mac Pro be seen reflected in its mirror-like finish?) Making that statement will cost you $490.

Cumbersome, shiny, and not stack-able. Sounds like a great idea.
Put it on top of the new cylinder-shaped Mac Pro for maximum effect.
