Company Announces 2K, 4K and 5K Versions of Easy-to-Use Effects for Editors and VFX Artists
Everyday workflows for 4K and beyond are coming into sharper focus in the run-up to NAB, as Rampant Design Tools upgrades its libraries of QuickTime elements for 2K, 4K, and 5K (5120×2700) timelines. Rampant will be showing the new line-up at its booth, #SL3631 in the Plug-in Pavilion at NAB.
Rampant had previously offered those elements — visual effects, backgrounds, mattes, and type tools in the form of QuickTime files that can simply be dragged into an NLE timeline — in 1920×1080 HD resolution, but now they can be used at full quality in projects shot at digital cinema resolutions and beyond. The new elements are also available in high-speed versions of up to 120 fps.
The new elements ship on Rampant Drives, which are 1 TB USB 3.0 drives formatted for both OS X and Windows, and are encoded using Apple ProRes.
The entire series of elements are priced at $2,499 for the Rampant Cinema Series 5K, $1,299 for the Rampant Broadcast Series 4K, $799 for the Rampant Production Series 2K, and $999 for its existing library of 75 products in HD, now known as Rampant Essentials. In a press release, the company said the new high-resolution volumes are available immediately; at the time of this writing the Rampant Design Tools website still listed them as "coming soon."
