Idustrial Revolution has added another useful plug-in to the growing FxFactory stable of effects for Final Cut Pro X. What's cool about Xeffects Snapshots is not just the number of photo and device frame templates included in the $99 plug-in (107, in fact) but the onscreen 3D controls that let you create an animated composite with text in a matter of seconds. Beyond the obvious boon to wedding videographers and corporate producers, Xeffects Snapshots will likely appeal to broadcast segment editors who are required to juice up their openers with social media-like content.
The software's drag-and-drop GUI, which is similar to FCPX, lets you easily razor the clip you want to freeze, position your image, and then animate your chosen template and background in 3D space using simplified x,y, and z angle control dials. Additional adjustments in the inspector give you more precise control. The suite also comes with four free transitions and a number of hand-designed elements that let you build and customize your own frame and background.
