Fall Update Emphasizes Collaborative Workflow in VFX, Animation
Ftrack has brought an early version 3.0 of its VFX and animation project management platform to SIGGRAPH. The company has its eye on collaborative workflow, and is previewing deeper pipeline integration and more interoperability with Thinkbox Deadline, Imagineer Mocha and Cospective CineSync. The new version is scheduled to ship this fall.
"We're well aware of the growing industry trend towards projects utilizing both production and creative resources in multiple locations and have designed Ftrack 3.0 to sit as a seamless solution within this environment," said Ftrack CEO Fredrik Limsater in a prepared statement.
Ftrack 3.9 will include a more complete API along with a standalone publishing application for better integration into client pipelines, the company said. Time-tracking tools and review-and-approval tools have been developed further to make communication between a production and outside clients more efficient.
The company said it is also working with The Mill — which it said has adopted Ftrack in its U.K. and U.S. studios — to develop plug-ins for artists using Ftrack in The Foundry's Nuke and Hiero. Other companies using Ftrack now include MPC in Los Angeles, Germany-based Mackevision, and London's LipSync Post.
