Optical Cable Allows Signal and Power to Be Carried Up to 1 km via Optional Base Station
FOR-A will show a new version of its 4K camera, the FT-One, with fiber-optic connectivity at IBC.
The FT-One-OPT can be paired with the optional FT-1BS base station to power the camera and carry its signal up to 1 km over optical cable. It's designed for use in live outdoor shooting and in studio set-ups that benefit from a roving camera. The base station also supports an intercom system for communicating with the camera operator during production.
FOR-A said the new camera has already been used by "major broadcasters" to produce "major sporting events" in 4K and 8K in 2014. (FOR-A didn't say which sporting events, but that's almost certainly a reference to the World Cup.)
Also being shown at IBC is the new ZE-One 4K extraction system, which lets users easily reframe the FT-One's 4K images for extracting replays in HD.
Other new products from FOR-A at IBC include the new XT2000 vision mixer with up to 40 SDI inputs and 22 outputs and the FRC-9000 4K HD frame-rate converter.
