Also Sets Debut of HyperSpace SSD Acceleration for HDD-Based Shared-Storage
GB Labs (Reading, UK) is debuting the 4K Duo On-Set, a location production system aimed at ingest, storage and back-up for Ultra HD productions.
Loaded with two SSD card readers and two LTO-6 tape drives, the system is built around a 6.4 TB SSD RAID with sustained data transfer rates of more than 2000 MB/sec, the company said, for real-time editing. According to GB Labs, the system's two SSD disk readers working in tandem can ingest data at 1000 MB/sec.
The 4K Duo On-Set will have 1 Gb, 10Gb and 40 Gb Ethernet connectivity, the company said, allowing editorial, sound, and color departments to connect to a project at the same time. USB 3.0 connectivity is standard, and SAS and eSATA ports are optional.
GB Labs also announced the rack-mounted HyperSpace, an SSD-based accelerator that allows its Space HDD-based NAS shared storage to operate at increased data rates.
"Certain deployments [of the Space platform] require DPX image-sequence capabilities or very large HD stream counts for concurrent editing, transcoding and rendering," said Sales and Marketing Director Ben Pearce in a prepared statement. "The random-access capabilities of HyperSpace are ideally suited to these environments."
