Burbank, CA. August 2014. Matthews Studio Equipment announces that their new Minivator II will premiere at IBC 2014, Hall 11, Row G, #71. The Minivator II is the long-awaited stronger and taller version of the industry standard Minivator stand, first introduced over 10 years ago.
“The idea of the new fast digital cameras needing less light or no lights at all is a misnomer,” says Robert Kulesh, V.P. Sales and Marketing for Matthews Studio Equipment. “The digital world gives the shooter a much more creative – and bigger pallet, often requiring more and bigger lights to cover the breadth of the shot.
“Minivator II is the perfect complement for these and other shots,” he adds. “We’ve beefed up the payload of the Minivator II from 60 to 80 pounds and added to the maximum height without sacrificing strength, safety or stability.”
MSE’s Minivator II accessory package also includes a Rocky Mountain leg and optional sturdy 4” casters to make this stronger and safer stand ideal for location work.
Minivator II features a double cable mechanism that will keep both risers traveling at equal proportions with each turn (38 will take the fixture to the full height) of the handle, allowing for firm and steady movement of any lighting fixture attached. The addition of “combo” dual- purpose top castings allows for use of both Junior pin and Baby receiver fixtures.
Minivator II reaches a maximum height of 142” (361cm), a load height of 55” (140cm), with a maximum load of 80 lbs (36.4Kg), weights 48 lbs (21.8Kg) and covers a footprint of 58” (150cm).
