Field monitor maker SmallHD has been acquired by Vitec Group, which will incorporate the company into its Videocom division, which includes brands such as Anton/Bauer, Bexel, Litepanels, Sachtler, Teradek, and Vinten.

"It's exciting for SmallHD to be included among the great brands that they represent," said SmallHD CEO Wes Phillips, who founded the company with Dale Backus in 2009, in a prepared statement. "We have aspirations to continue to build outstanding monitors, and Vitec not only encourages that entrepreneurial spirit but offers the support and expertise we need to move forward."

Vitec said in a press release that the acquisition will allow SmallHD to "bring a new range of innovative monitors to customers."
