Virtual studio designers may soon be able to do full 3D walkthroughs of their sets as part of a new 3D previs tool that Orad Hi-Tec Systems plans to showcase at NAB 2015.
The system employs a PC-connected VR headset, such as the Oculus Rift, to provide left-eye and right-eye views to a user. Orad's RenderEngine uses head-tracking data to continually update the displays based on where the person is looking, creating a stereo-3D view of a graphical environment that the designer can navigate.
Orad makes graphics packages, video servers, and asset management systems designed for newscasting, sports broadcasting, special events, and other markets.
