Expansion Is Planned into Production for TV Dramas, Feature FIlms
U.K. rental house Procam is expanding to the U.S. with its purchase of HotCam New York, announced today. HotCam New York owners Trevor Hotz and Ali Grapes, who founded the company in 2004, have resigned their positions. The company's former affiliate, HotCam UK, will not be affected by the acquisition, the companies said.
Financial terms of the deal, which was backed by London private equity firm Foresight Group, were not disclosed. HotCam New York's roster of shows includes The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, American Pickers and Teen Mom.
"American production companies have long been asking us to open a facility in new York, and we've looked to set up shop there for many years," said Procam CEO John Brennan in a prepared statement. "The HotCam New York opportunity fulfills our clients' demands for a Procam presence in the U.S. and means we can offer a more seamless and detailed level of service for U.K. clients shooting in the U.S."
HotCam joins an expansion portfolio for Procam that includes Leicester, U.K.-based lens manufacturer and customizer True Lens Services (TLS), which it purchased in December.
Brennan said further investments by Procam in HotCam will fuel expansion into production for high-end television dramas and feature film. "The gap between feature and television production has narrowed to the point where the production kit requirements are very similar to each other, with the same digital cinematography cameras increasingly commonplace across the board," he said.
