Bright, High-Quality Lights Will Ship in Fully Tuneable and Remote Phosphor Versions
ARRI announced its new SkyPanel LED soft light at NAB. The light is designed to be compact, exceptionally bright, and with high-quality shadow rendition.
The SkyPanel will come in two sizes: what it called the "workhorse" S60, with a light aperture of 645x300mm, and a half-length portable version, the S30, designed for mobile applications. Both SkyPanel sizes will be available in fully tuneable (2800K-10,000K) and less-expensive remote phosphor versions (2700K, 3200K, 4300K, 5600K or 6500K).
ARRI claims the SkyPanel is brighter than a 2 kW tungsten soft light or a 6 kW tungsten space light. A high quality, uniform beam lends excellent shadow rendition, ARRI said, without multiple edges, tints, or color fringes. Diffusor panels are interchangeable, allowing quick swaps, and an external PSU helps keep the unit lightweight.
The fully tunable S60 C and the remote-phosphor S60 RP are expected to ship in September for $6250 and $4500, respectively. The S30 C and S30 RP will ship in November for $4500 and $3125, ARRI said.
