OConnor will introduce its new O-Rig 15mm Rod Support System at NAB next week. It's designed to work with any camera and lens in a 15mm LWS configuration.
The rig is described as "camera- and lens-agnostic," and OConnor said it works with camera systems from Sony, Canon, Nikon, ARRI, AJA, JVC, Panasonic, Vision Research and Red. The rig is designed to move between shoulder-mount and tripod configurations, a universal baseplate is designed to make camera and lens changes easy, and a height adapter has been designed to cover all camera bodies, OConnor said.
An O-Rig kit includes an O-Grips handgrip system, an adjustable offset adapter, and a shoulder pad with positioning options to optimize camera balance and other ergonomic considerations. A Storm Case housing fitted with high-density foam has been designed to hold the components.
"Whether our users need to bolt an increasing amount of equipment to their camera or they're looking to maximize their rig for as many configurations as possible, the O-Rig can support them," said OConnor Product Manager Steven Turner in a prepared statement.
The O-Rig 15mm Rod Support System is expected to ship worldwide in May, with customized shoulder-rig packages for specific cameras available on request. OConnor is exhibiting at NAB in booth C6025 in the Central Hall.
