Veteran Audio Post Pro Has 20 Oscar Nominations and One Emmy Win to His Name
Re-recording mixer Kevin O'Connell is back at Sony Pictures Post Production Services, where he has completed four projects—The Boy Next Door, Self/less, No Good Deed, and Pitch Perfect 2—and is working on Goosebumps with director Rob Letterman.
Could one of those projects earn him an Academy Award? He's been nominated 20 times already.
O'Connell had worked most recently at Todd AO in Santa Monica, but he started at The Samuel Goldwyn Studios, where he worked as a technician on The Empire Strikes Back and Raiders of the Lost Ark, and as a mixer on Terms of Endearment, which garnered him an Oscar nomination at the age of 26.
He originally came on board at Sony Pictures in 1993 as a supervising sound mixer on titles including Spider-Man, Armageddon, and Transformers. "It feels like coming home," O'Connell said in a prepared statement. "It's one of the greatest post-production facilities in the world and I'm thrilled to be part of it again."
O'Connell is an Emmy Award-winner for his work on the 1989 miniseries Lonesome Dove and a Satellite Award-winner for Unstoppable, director Tony Scott's final film, in 2010.
