Boxes Convert DisplayPort Video to HD-SDI, Transmit UHD HDMI over Ethernet and 4K 3G-SDI via Fiber
AJA announced more mini-converters at InfoComm this week, with nifty little boxes aimed at applications ranging from on-set workflow and studio environments to post-production and digital signage.
The new HB-T-HDMI and HB-R-HDMI convert HD and UHD signals from HDMI to Ethernet and back. Using the HDBaseT spec, the boxes allow signal extension over 100m of Cat5, 6, or 7 cable with support for deep color, 3D, EDID and HDCP as well as bi-directional IR and RS-232 device control. They are scheduled to ship late this summer for $395 each.
The FiDO-4T and FiDO-4R fiber-optic converters convert between four-channel 3G-SDI, including UHD SDI, and four-channel single-mode fiber. Each of the channels is fully independent, so the boxes can be used to convert four separate 3G-SDI streams or to convert output from a single 4K camera to fiber. Video formats are automatically detected, and all inputs are equalized and reclocked. The FiDO-4T and -4R are expected to ship in July for $1,495 each.
Finally, the ROI DP converts DisplayPort output to baseband SD with real-time region-of-interest scaling and frame-rate conversion. The region of interest can be adjusted interactively using AJA's free MiniConfig software on a Mac or PC connected via USB. The ROI-DP supports embedded eight-channel audio via DisplayPort input, or a two-channel 3.5mm analog audio input can be embedded into the SDI output. It ships this month for $995.
