Allegorithmic announced Substance Share, a new free material-exchange platform allowing artists to share substances, meshes, shaders, smart materials, and mesh-adaptive presets.
Allegorithmic's Substance products are widely used by game designers for creating and painting textures, but the company has seen some interest from 3D artists in other fields, including the creator of animated short "The Leviathan."
"3D artists willing to improve their skills will find a perfect ally in Substance Share," said Allegorithmic CEO Sébastien Deguy in a prepared statement. "Whether it's sharing materials or giving feedback, our community now has access to a great resource library that will only get more valuable as the years go by."
Substance Share will be available only to Substance Live members for the first month, and will become available to the broader community on September 8. The platform is launching at SIGGRAPH.
The platform will initially be accessible through web browsers, with integration with Substance Designer and Substance Painter slated for fall.
