Light Iron's Outpost mobile post-production system is getting an upgrade, with the help of new corporate owner Panavision.
Announced at Cine Gear Expo, Outpost by Panavision looks to be a nicely "Panavised" version of the well-known DIT/dailies/sound/VTR cart, this time with a lightweight carbon-fiber frame and a modular design that allows custom form factors for different hardware requirements, with footprints ranging from 24×24 inches to 24×48 inches with up to three removable equipment racks.
In good news for road warriors, the whole system collapses so it can be transported as carry-on luggage. And it can function as a truly remote system, drawing all of its power from VCLX batteries for two hours. Watch Light Iron's video, below, for a summary of what's new.
Light Iron says the new system is "coming soon," and will be available for rent through Light Iron or Panavision.
