Visual Storytelling 2: Style and Subtext in Cinema Tour Opens Next Week in Detroit
Ace cinematographer Alex Buono, a StudioDaily favorite for his seat-of-the-pants work with Saturday Night Live's Film Unit in New York, is embarking on a sequel to his 2013 Art of Visual Storytelling workshop tour.
The new series, dubbed Alex Buono's Visual Storytelling 2: Style and Subtext in Cinema, will focus on lighting and shooting techniques over a full day's worth of demonstrations. Using a deliberately limited camera kit, attendees will learn about adapting the resources available to them to create a variety of different looks suiting a range of projects. The all-day workshop will be complemented with an evening lecture on "visual subtext," and how it can be managed through camera movement, composition, lighting, sound design, production design, and hair and make-up.
The tour will hit 32 cities, starting next Wednesday, July 22, in Detroit, MI, and closing on September 18 and 20 in New York City. Registration costs $299 for the full day or $249 for the daytime workshop alone and $99 for the evening seminar alone. Through July 30, StudioDaily readers can get a $15 discount on the price of the "full experience" with the discount code AVS2STUD.
