SR-HD2700 Allows Unencrypted Live HDMI Recording, Simultaneous Writing to HDD and Disc
Need to record direct to Blu-ray? JVC has replaced its SR-HD2500 BD/HDD combo recording deck with the SR-HD2700, which adds unencrypted live HDMI recording to the feature set.
Users can now record HDMI signals (out of a DSLR or other video camera) without HDCP encryption to a 1 TB hard disk. (The previous model had only a 500 GB hard disk.) The unit also features SDI input, as well as composite and S-Video inputs. Other connectivity options include USB, IEEE-1394 (FireWire), and an SDXC card slot. Footage in MOV or MXF format can be uploaded from a PC.
For redundancy, the HD2700 can now record simultaneously to the HDD and a Blu-ray or DVD disc. It has a text overlay function to discourage unauthorized copying, and HD-to-SD downconversion is built in.
"It's a convenient way to provide client copies on location immediately after an event," said JVC Assistant VP of Marketing Communications Dave Walton in a prepared statement. "Plus, the ability to record from an HDMI or SDI input helps make the SR-HD2700 part of a high-quality, low-cost HD recording system for medical applications, lectures, videoconferences, police interrogations, city council meetings, church services, and more."
The SR-HD2700 is now shipping with an MSRP of $3,995.
