Matrox Graphics announced Endea, a new OEM reference platform for video switching that supports simultaneous multistream H.264 encoding and decoding at resolutions up to 4Kp60.
The platform is meant to be used for applications including video walls, video extenders, switchers and multiviewers and encoding and decoding appliances. Different types of functionality incorporated in Endea include capturing, encoding/decoding/transcoding, streaming, recording, video processing, special effects, and display.
"Our rich libraries provide deep control over product customization and come complete with sample code and dedicated OEM development support," said Matrox VP of Research and Development David Chiappini in a prepared statement. "We envision product engineers being able to produce highly specialized applications which can include custom I/O configurations mixed with the unique characteristics of our world-class codec and video processing engines."
The platform supports 8-bit and 10-bit 4:2:0, 4:2:2, and 4:4:4 subsampling; the AVC-Ultra and XAVC pro codec families; constant and variable bit-rate encoding; and H.264 profiles from baseline to High 10 Intra Profile up to Level 5.2. The codec engine is programmable for control of GOP structure and frame management, and the SDK offers a low-level API allowing programmers access to every encoding parameter. Video processing capabilities include content-adaptive anti-aliased de-interlacing and multi-layer compositing, keying and blending. IP protocol support includes RTSP/RTP/RTCP, RTP, RTMP, and MPEG-TS, the platform has design guidelines for HDMI, DisplayPort and up to 6G-SDI.
