Three-Chip Camera Will Support iLog Gamma for HDR, 40G Baseband Video Transmission
Ikegami said it will show the UHK-430, a new UHD camera with a B4 lens mount, at NAB. With three separate 2/3-inch 3840×2160 CMOS sensors, the camera is designed for studio as well as field acquisition.
The camera has simultaneous 4K and 2K output, Ikegami said, including an optional 2K cut from the 4K picture. It supports 40 Gbps baseband video transmission between the camera and the matching CCU-430 camera control unit, uncompressed 4:4:4 RGB signals, and Gigabit Ethernet for control over a network. An optional plug-in board will allow output via Quad-3G, 12G and video-over-IP formats.
HDR support is implemented via iLog, Ikegami's own flavor of log gamma color encoding, to maximize image latitude.
In the same announcement, Ikegami said its BS-98 anf CCU-980 base stations integrate a 4K Super Resolution Converter that delivers 4K output from Ikegami cameras operating in 1080p formats.
Also new in Ikegami's 4K line-up are two new 4K monitors, the 31.1-inch HQLM-3120W and the HQLM-3120WH (the "H" is for HDR).
According to a posting at the company's Japanese-language website, the UHK-430 is slated to ship in April and the optional plug-in board is expected later in the year, while the ability to separate the camera head from the rest of the camera body for modular operation is expected to be enabled in 2017.
The UHK-430 will make its debut at CABSAT, held in the Dubai World Trade Centre March 8–10.
