Supervising Sound Editor Scott Gershin is the new director of sound editorial at Technicolor, where he will head a new department creating sound for video games, virtual reality, theme parks, installations, and other immersive experiences. Gershin's department will be based in Burbank and at Technicolor Sound at Paramount in Hollywood.
Gershin will also continue his work as a sound designer and sound supervisor on feature films, Technicolor said.
"Technicolor is making significant commitments to the growth of our gaming and immersive experiences capabilities," said Technicolor Deputy CEO and President of Production Services Tim Sarnoff in a prepared statement. "Since sound is a major element of storytelling and entertainment in these emerging mediums, it will play a critical role in our growth in this exciting sector."
Gershin, most recently supervising sound editor and sound designer at The Formosa Group, will be working with Technicolor VP and Head of Theatrical Sound Jeffrey Eisner, a colleague from Gershin's days at Soundelux Design Music Group, a pioneer in videogame sound. Other sound designers on the team include Masanobu Tomita, Bryan Celano, Nick Interlandi and Viktor Phoenix.
