Sigma has begun shipping its Mount Converter MC-11, a lens adapter that allows 15 Sigmna Canon-mount and Sigma-mount Global Vision lenses to be used with Sony E-mount cameras with full-frame or APS-C sensors.
When the MC-11 is being used, Sigma lenses run on the MC-11's built-in software that controls aperture, optical stabilization, and peripheral brightness, rather than their own firmware. Sigma said some lenses may require a firmware update for full compatibility with the MC-11. A built-in LED light alerts shooters if a given lens requires an update. The $59 Sigma USB Dock for connecting the lens to a computer is sold separately.
The MC-11 is compatible with Sigma's optical stabilization system as well as Sony's sensor-shift atabilization, allowing correction of camera shake, Sigma said.
The MC-11 is now available at an MSRP of $249.
