Digital Intermediate pioneer David Cole has joined FotoKem Creative Services as senior colorist, the company said today. One of his first projects out of Fotokem's Burbank headquarters will be Kong: Skull Island, set for March 2017 release.
Most recently supervising digital colorist at Modern VideoFilm, David Cole first made a big name for himself at The Post House in Wellington, NZ, where he worked as a lead digital colorist on The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring before serving as Weta Digital's supervising and lead colorist on King Kong. He relocated to Hollywood in 2006, when he came on board at LaserPacific.
His recent credits include features Life of Pi, The Book of Life and Eye in the Sky, and TV pilots for Sleepy Hollow, Scorpion, and Reign. He has also graded several titles in HDR for home theater viewing, FotoKem said. Cole is an Associate Member of the ASC and a member of the Visual Effects Society.
