Latest Update Emphasizes Motion Graphics Tools with New HUD Elements, Lines, and Logos

Red Giant updated its Universe collection of GPU-accelerated editing and motion-graphics plug-ins to v2.0 today.

The new releases emphasizes motion-graphics elements, including sets of heads-up display elements, a new way to animate straight or bezier-curved lines between elements on a screen, a set of Logo Motion effects for animating logos into and out of the frame, and a new Color Stripe transition.

Red Giant said the UI has been updated, too, with the inclusion of a preset browser that plays an animated preview of an effect on hover that can be applied with a click.

Also new are Star Wars and Hunger Games-inspired distortion effects in Holomatrix II, a redesigned Camera Shake tool (with presets for simulating different shaky camera set-ups), and controls in Unmult designed to help compositors remove black backgrounds and create alpha channels behind live-action fire, smoke and water elements.

Red Giant Universe 2 is available for a fee of $20/month or $99/year after a free trial. The v2.0 upgrade is included free for paid users.
