Hoboken, N.J., studio Malka Media shot a new six-part digital documentary series for Showtime with VariCam LT 4K camcorders, Panasonic said.
The series, Legacy: Bob Hurley, is about the basketball coach at St. Anthony High School in Jersey City, N.J. It's slated to air in six weekly installments of 10 to 12 minutes each on Showtime's website (sho.com) and the Showtime Sports YouTube channel starting February 20.
"We're shooting in 4K even though the series will initially air in HD, not only for the incredible image quality, but also because we envision putting together a subsequent documentary that we'd be in a position to merchandise to a network that would stipulate 4K," said director Louis Krubich, the CEO of Malka Media, in a prepared statement.
Previous Malka Media projects for Showtime Sports included a profile of HBC heavyweight boxing champion Deontay Wilder.
